Singapore Changi Airport Transport Guide: Terminal Maps, Pick Up Points and Chauffeur Transfers

MySingaporeDriver handles daily airport transfers in and out of Changi, ranging from small groups to large corporate groups with staggered arrivals and multi-venue drop-offs. This guide is written as a working record of how Changi actually operates for someone arriving with luggage, a schedule, or guests to look after.

Singapore Changi Airport sits in the east of the island, about 20 km from the city centre. It has four passenger terminals: T1, T2, T3, and T4, and the Jewel lifestyle hub, which connects to T1, T2, and T3. Terminal 5 is currently under construction and expected to open in the mid-2030s. Each terminal has its own arrival hall, departure curbside, and pick-up zones, which is why knowing your terminal matters before you book any transport.

For most travellers, the choice comes down to six options: MRT, public bus, taxi, ride-hailing, the official Ground Transport Concierge, or a pre-booked private chauffeur.

As a local LTA-licensed chauffeur operator, MySingaporeDriver see the ‘operational reality’ of each choice: from the convenience of the MRT for solo travellers to why Terminal 4’s shuttle-only setup catches families off guard, and the specific scenarios where pre-booking a transfer is the only way to avoid the ‘shuttle bus loop’ or long taxi queues.

Most travellers get there by MRT, bus, taxi, or ride-hailing, which are all straightforward options for those who know the city.

Where is Singapore Changi Airport Located?

Singapore Changi Airport is located in the eastern part of Singapore (roughly 20km from the city centre). It is the main international airport serving most commercial flights to and from Singapore. Below are the official addresses of the main terminals and also the Jewel lifestyle hub:

LocationAddressPostal Code
Terminal 180 Airport Boulevard819642
Terminal 260 Airport Boulevard819643
Terminal 365 Airport Boulevard819663
Terminal 410 Airport Boulevard819665
CIP60 Airport Boulevard819643
Jewel Changi78 Airport Boulevard819666

Important Arrival Notes:

  • The “Main” Terminal: Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are closely linked. However, Terminal 4 operates on its own roadway, separate from the other terminals. If you are arriving at T4, please note that there is no Skytrain access; transfer to the main terminals is via a dedicated shuttle bus.
  • Commercially Important Person (CIP) Terminal: Private facility located within the Terminal 2 compound with a separate entrance. This terminal offers discreet arrival and departure away from the main terminal crowds – ideal for passengers who require the fastest disembarkation and privacy.
  • Jewel Changi: Jewel is a lifestyle hub rather than a flight terminal; however, it is common for passengers to explore this area before their departing flight or after their flight arrival. Jewel has a separate curb-side pickup point at the level 2 main entrance (in front of Shake Shack) or at basement 1, doors 1 to 5.
  • Terminal 5 (Coming Soon): Construction is underway, with completion expected in the mid-2030s.

What are the transportation Options To and out of Changi Airport – Six Ways Compared

Travellers arriving at Singapore Changi Airport can choose from several transport options: MRT, public bus, taxi, ride-hailing, ground transport concierge (arrivals only), or pre-booked private chauffeur service.

Each option works for a different type of traveller:

Transport OptionBest ForThe Reality (Things to Consider)The Chauffeur Advantage
MRT (Train)Solo travellers with a backpack or one carry-on; budget-conscious.You’ll need to transfer at Tanah Merah station, which can get very crowded during peak hours.Zero transfers. We take you door-to-door while you rest, avoiding the post-flight “hustle” at train stations.
Public BusLight travellers who aren’t in a rush and prefer the most economical route.Buses don’t have dedicated luggage racks. If you have multiple suitcases, it’s socially awkward and physically difficult to manage.Ample Space. Our vehicles are chosen specifically to fit both passengers and their luggage comfortably.
Taxi (Standard)Last-minute trips for 1–3 people with standard luggage.Queue time, metered fare, airport surcharge, peak-hour surcharge, late-night surcharge, and luggage capacity may be verified.Fixed, Transparent Pricing. What we quote is what you pay—no hidden surprises.
Ride-Hailing (Grab/Gojek)Tech-savvy travellers who don’t mind waiting at a specific bay.Surge pricing can leave you with a small car that can’t fit all your bags, leading to a stressful “cancellation” loop.Guaranteed Vehicle Type. If you book an MPV, you get an MPV. Your driver is waiting for you, so there’s no “waiting for the app” in a hot pick-up bay.
Airport ConciergeTravellers going to selected hotelsLarger vehicles are available, but limited options; you may require multiple vehicles if there is not enough space. May have to wait for the driver.Direct & Private. Your chauffeur is already waiting to pick you up upon your arrival.
Pre-booked ChauffeurFamilies, VIPs, corporate groups, or anyone with a “no-stress” requirement.Requires booking at least 24 hours in advance to guarantee your preferred vehicle type.Personalised services include “Meet & Greet” at arrivals with a name sign, flight tracking for delays, and a professional who handles your bags.

Why choose a Pre-Booked Airport Chauffeur Service instead?

While standard taxis, ride-hailing, or public transportation are suitable for most trips, they introduce a layer of uncertainty that may not be suitable for high-stakes airport transfers. Between unpredictable wait times at the taxi queue and varying vehicle capacity, size, or cleanliness, your or your guest’s first impression of Singapore shouldn’t be left to chance.

With MySingaporeDriver, the uncertainty is removed before you even board your flight. Everything, from the specific vehicle variable and child seat requirements to the final, all-inclusive quotation, is confirmed in advance.

What are the advantages of pre-booked chauffeur services?

A pre-booked Singapore chauffeur service provides the passenger with a seamless transition from immigration to their next destination, without having to arrange their own transport on the day, especially after a long-haul flight or on their first visit.

This “peace of mind” approach is the standard for:

  • Corporate Travellers: Moving directly from the tarmac to a high-priority meeting, a trained and reliable chauffeur will get you to your next destination comfortably and on time.
  • Families & Groups: Ensuring the right baby seats are installed and that the vehicle has ample room for luggage and comfortable seating, without arranging multiple vehicles.
  • VIP & Elderly Guests: Providing “meet-and-greet” service ensures that the passengers are personally received and escorted to the vehicle without having to navigate the airport.
  • Late-Night Arrivals: Eliminating the stress of midnight surcharges or the limited availability of ride-hailing apps during the early hours.

Beyond the Standard “Airport-to-Hotel” Route

We frequently manage complex itineraries that require more than just a simple transfer, including:

  • Time Sensitive Multi-Stop Movements: Arrival at Changi followed by a business meeting en route to the hotel.
  • Cruise & Event Transfers: Time-sensitive transfers to Marina Bay Cruise Centre to coordinate large groups with varying luggage requirements and staggered arrivals to the event venue.
  • Specialised Airport Services: Dedicated support for CIP Terminal, Seletar Airport (Private Jets), and VIP Complex transfers.

For all our flight services, we track your flight in real time. If your flight is early or delayed, we will automatically adjust the schedule. By the time you clear immigration, your chauffeur will already be positioned in the arrivals hall, ready to provide a seamless onward journey.

How to navigate the Different Airport Terminals and where the chauffeur will meet you

Singapore Changi Airport has four passenger terminals: Terminal 1, Terminal 2, Terminal 3, and Terminal 4. Each terminal has its own arrival hall, departure hall, and pick-up points.

When arriving with luggage, elderly family members, children, wheelchair users, or a booking on behalf of a corporate guest, it is important to know where the driver should wait and which door or pick-up point is easiest to reach.

For pre-booked airport transfers, MySingaporeDriver will advise on the suitable vehicle, monitor your flight and the terminal you arrive at or depart from, and confirm the pickup time. Our service is fully managed and hands-off for you, especially if you are booking on behalf of the passenger.

Changi Airport Terminal 1 is the first terminal to be established and serves as a hub for the following airlines:

  • Premium & Long-Haul Carriers: This terminal is Singapore’s home to Qantas, Emirates, and British Airways, alongside Japan Airlines (JAL), Qatar Airways, and the European mainstays Air France and KLM.
  • Regional & Boutique Airlines: Other major players include Turkish Airlines, Korean Air, and Finnair.
  • Low-Cost Hub: T1 is also the central operating base for Scoot and AirAsia, which together handle a significant volume of regional traffic

Travellers arriving at Terminal 1 can access the arrival hall on Level 1, while departure drop-off is generally handled at the Level 2 departure curbside.

Terminal 1 is also a common terminal for travellers who want to visit Jewel before heading into the city. If you are heading to Jewel first, let us know; we can meet you at the Jewel-specific pick-up bays once you’re done exploring.

Chauffeur Pick-Up / Drop-Off at Terminal 1

For Terminal 1 arrivals, chauffeur pick-up is usually coordinated at the Arrival Hall on Level 1. Depending on the exact meeting arrangement, passengers may be directed to the appropriate arrival door, typically Doors 1–6 or Doors 7–12.

For departures, the chauffeur will usually drop passengers at the Terminal 1 departure curbside on Level 2, close to the airline check-in area, where possible.

Changi Airport Terminal 2

Terminal 2 is the primary hub for regional travel and several major international partners. If you are flying with one of the following:

  • Singapore Airlines (SQ): Regional flights within Southeast Asia, plus destinations in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, South Korea, and Japan.
    • Note: SQ12 (to Tokyo/Los Angeles) typically departs from T3. Always double-check your flight code as SQ splits operations between T2 and T3.
  • Major International Carriers: * Lufthansa (LH) & SWISS (LX)
    • United Airlines (UA) & Air Canada (AC)
    • All Nippon Airways (NH) & Air Japan (NQ)
    • Etihad Airways (EY) & Ethiopian Airlines (ET)
  • Regional & Partner Airlines: Malaysia Airlines (MH), Air India (AI/IX), Royal Brunei (BI), Starlux (JX), and Indigo (6E), Thai Airways (TG)

Chauffeur Pick-Up / Drop-Off at Terminal 2

For Terminal 2 arrivals, chauffeur pick-up is usually arranged at the Arrival Hall on Level 1. The most suitable meeting point may depend on the passenger’s exit door after baggage claim, but Terminal 2 arrival pick-up is commonly coordinated around Doors 4–7.

For departures, passengers are usually dropped at the Terminal 2 departure curbside on Level 2, near the relevant airline check-in area.

Commercially Important Person (CIP) Terminal

The Commercially Important Person (CIP) Terminal is located within the same compound as Terminal 2. This self-contained facility, with its own dedicated immigration and customs clearance, allows you to bypass public crowds entirely and offers greater privacy and speed.

The process starts with the greeter being positioned at the aero bridge to greet and receive you as a guest directly after disembarking, and then being escorted to the private terminal immigration and premium lounge via a buggy (T1, T2, and T3) or a tarmac limousine (T4), and to baggage claim.

MySingaporeDriver specialises in these high-discretion transfers. Our operations teams coordinate directly with terminal operations to meet you at the private entrance, ensuring your vehicle is ready and positioned the moment you exit the lounge.

Changi Airport Terminal 3

Terminal 3 is Singapore Airlines’ primary hub. While regional flights often use T2, you will almost certainly arrive or depart from T3 if you are flying SQ to:

  • Europe & North America: (e.g., London, Paris, New York, San Francisco)
  • Oceania: (Australia and New Zealand)
  • Japan: Specifically SQ12 (the Tokyo-Los Angeles route).

Major International & Full-Service Carriers

T3 serves several “heavyweight” international airlines, many of which are Star Alliance partners:

  • North America: United Airlines (UA)
  • Greater China: China Eastern (MU), China Southern (CZ), and Eva Air (BR)
  • South Asia: Air India (AI) and Vistara (UK)
  • Middle East & Africa: Qatar Airways (QR), Saudi Arabian Airlines (SV), and Ethiopian Airlines (ET)
  • Others: Asiana Airlines (OZ), Garuda Indonesia (GA), and Myanmar Airways International (8M)

Changi Airport Terminal 3 Layout and Map

Changi Airport Terminal 3 is a major arrival and departure terminal. It connects to Terminals 1 and 2 and Jewel, making it convenient for passengers who need to move within the airport before leaving for the city.

Chauffeur Pick-Up / Drop-Off at Terminal 3

For Terminal 3 arrivals, chauffeur pick-up is usually coordinated from the Arrival Hall on Level 1. A common pickup point is Door 1 at Arrival Level 1, though the exact instructions should be confirmed before the trip.

For departures, the chauffeur will usually drop passengers at the Terminal 3 departure curbside on Level 2, close to the correct airline check-in area, where possible.

*For passengers flying Singapore Airlines First Class or Suites, a private driveway is located just before Door 1 at Terminal 3. Porter service and lounge access are included as well.

Changi Airport Terminal 4

Terminal 4 operates on a separate roadway and is not connected to T1, T2, or T3, so knowing exactly which airlines land there is vital for a smooth pickup. Most airlines operating in T4 are low-cost carriers:

Primary Hubs & Low-Cost Carriers

  • AirAsia Group: This is the massive anchor for T4, including AirAsia (AK), Thai AirAsia (FD), and Indonesia AirAsia (QZ).
  • Cebu Pacific (5J): Handling the majority of the traffic to the Philippines.

Full-Service & International Partners

  • Cathay Pacific (CX): This is the most high-profile full-service carrier at T4.
  • Korean Air (KE): A major long-haul partner at this terminal.
  • Vietnam Airlines (VN) & VietJet Air (VJ): Covering the primary routes to Vietnam.
  • Juneyao Air (HO): A key player for routes into China.

Regional & Niche Carriers

  • Bamboo Airways (QH)
  • HK Express (UO)
  • Pacific Airlines (BL)
  • Spring Airlines (9C)

Changi Airport Terminal 4 Layout and Map

Changi airport terminal 4 layout

Changi Airport Terminal 4 is not connected to the other terminals by the skytrain network. To reach the other terminals, use the airport shuttle at the level 1 arrival halls. Level 2 is only for drop-offs from the other terminals.

Chauffeur Pick-Up / Drop-Off at Terminal 4

For Terminal 4 arrivals, chauffeur pick-up is usually coordinated at Door 1 on Arrival Level 1. This is often the simplest reference point for passengers exiting after immigration and baggage collection.

For departures, Terminal 4 drop-off is at curbside Level 2.

Jewel Changi Airport

Changi Airport jewel layout

Jewel Changi Airport is connected to the main airport terminals and is one of the most visited parts of Changi Airport. It has multiple above-ground and basement levels, with the Rain Vortex and Forest Valley at its centre.

Jewel is commonly used by travellers who have a long layover, guests waiting before hotel check-in, families visiting Changi as part of their itinerary, or passengers who want to eat, shop, or walk around before leaving the airport.

For airport transfer planning, Jewel is important because it differs from a typical terminal arrival pick-up. A passenger may land at Terminal 1, 2, 3, or 4, then choose to visit Jewel before meeting the driver. If this is not communicated clearly, the driver may be waiting at the terminal while the passenger is inside Jewel.

Chauffeur Drop-Off and Pick-Up for Jewel

At Jewel Changi Airport, chauffeur drop-offs are commonly made at the curbside opposite Terminal 1 departure door. Passengers can easily take the pedestrian crossing to T1 or the underground bridge.

If the passenger wants to visit Jewel after landing, it is best to decide whether the chauffeur should wait, return later, or pick up from a different terminal-side point. For hourly driver service bookings, the driver can remain on standby while the guest visits Jewel, subject to the booked duration and airport waiting rules.

Moving Between Changi Airport Terminals

Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are connected by airport walkways and Skytrain links, making it relatively easy to move between them if you have enough time and are not carrying too much luggage. However, this requires some foresight, especially if you are trying to connect to Singapore’s public transport network.

  • The MRT (Public Train) Hub: The Changi Airport MRT station is centrally located in the basement underpass between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. If you land at Terminal 1 or Terminal 4, you will need to utilise the Skytrain or the shuttle bus to reach these terminals before you can access the train line toward the city.
  • Public Bus Access: For those utilising the local bus network, every terminal (T1, T2, T3, and T4) features a designated bus bay located on the basement level. Please note that while the bus is budget-friendly, there is limited space for large suitcases, and the journey to the city centre involves significantly more stops than a private transfer.
  • The Terminal 4 Gap: Because Terminal 4 is physically separate from the main cluster, there is no Skytrain or direct MRT access. To move between T4 and the other terminals (or the MRT station), you must use the complimentary airport shuttle bus, which runs on a 24-hour loop.

The Chauffeur Advantage

Navigating basement bus bays or transferring at Tanah Merah station with heavy luggage can be an exhausting start to your trip. By booking a limousine service, you bypass the underpasses and shuttle loops entirely. Our chauffeurs meet you at the arrival hall and take you directly to your vehicle.

What is the Arrival Process like at Changi Airport?

After landing at Singapore Changi Airport, most passengers will go through immigration, collect their baggage, and exit through the arrival hall before meeting their transport provider.

For MySingaporeDriver airport chauffeur bookings, our chauffeur will wait outside the arrival terminal for you with a name sign, unless specified as a curbside pickup or pickup/drop-off from the CIP terminal.

Immigration and SG Arrival Card

International passengers entering Singapore must complete the SG Arrival Card before immigration clearance. This should ideally be completed before landing or before reaching the immigration area, so the arrival process is not delayed.

For guests using our airport transfer service, we recommend completing the SG Arrival Card before the flight, especially for corporate guests, elderly passengers, families, and VIP travellers. If we are coordinating the booking for an overseas guest, the SG Arrival Card reminder can also be included in the pre-arrival confirmation message. (This can save an extra 10 to 15 minutes rather than submitting it at the kiosk before immigration)

Based on the transfers we coordinate, most passengers clear immigration and collect their bags in 35 to 45 minutes on a standard day; however, this also depends on many other factors, such as the number of luggage items.

Travellers without checked luggage can clear customs and exit the arrival hall in as little as 15 to 20 minutes.

Baggage Claim and Driver Timing

Baggage claim is one of the main timing factors for airport pick-up. Travellers with only cabin luggage may exit the arrival hall quickly, while passengers with checked baggage may take longer.

During busy arrival periods, baggage collection can take around 15 to 30 minutes or more, depending on the flight and airport conditions. This is why we usually ask for the flight number and luggage count when arranging an airport transfer.

For groups, families, and VIP guests, it is also useful to confirm the number of bags in advance. This helps us assign a suitable vehicle, such as an executive sedan, a premium MPV, a van, a minibus, or a coach.

When Should You Leave for Changi Airport? (Departure Planning)

As a general rule, MySingaporeDriver recommends planning your airport transfer so you reach Changi Airport around 3 hours before an international long-haul flight and around 2.5 hours before a regional flight. This gives enough time for check-in, baggage drop, immigration, security, and any unexpected queues or delays.

For chauffeur bookings, we usually work backwards from your flight departure time. Once we know your airline, terminal, pick-up address, number of passengers, luggage count, and whether you need additional assistance, we can recommend a suitable pick-up time.

This is especially important for families with children, elderly passengers, wheelchair users, corporate guests, VIP travellers, or groups travelling with many bags. These passengers usually need more time to load luggage, settle into the vehicle, reach the correct departure terminal, and complete airport procedures without rushing.

Typical Driving Time to Changi Airport

Actual travel time depends on traffic, weather, roadworks, and your exact pick-up point. However, these are common planning estimates for private airport transfers to Changi Airport:

Pick-up areaTypical drive time to Changi AirportPlanning note
Orchard RoadAround 22 minutesAdd buffer during evening peak hours
CBD / Raffles Place / Marina BayAround 19 minutesUsually straightforward via ECP, but traffic can build near peak periods
SentosaAround 28 minutesAllow more time if departing from resort areas or during weekends
Johor Bahru checkpoint areaAround 35 minutes after Singapore clearanceBorder traffic can vary heavily, so an extra buffer is needed
Residential estates in the westAround 30–45 minutesAdd more time during weekday morning or evening peak
Changi / East Coast areaAround 10–20 minutesShorter drive, but still allows time for terminal drop-off

For Friday evenings, Sunday nights, public holiday periods, school holiday travel peaks, and major event weeks in Singapore, we recommend adding an extra 20-30 minutes of buffer time. Routes such as ECP, AYE, PIE, and roads leading to the airport can slow down during heavy traffic.

Changi Airport Facilities, Lounges, Dining and Shopping

Changi Airport has a wide range of passenger facilities across Terminal 1, Terminal 2, Terminal 3, Terminal 4, and Jewel. These include airline lounges, dining areas, shopping zones, rest areas, shower facilities, family-friendly spaces, and meeting points for arriving or departing passengers.

For most travellers using a private airport transfer, the exact facility matters less than the timing and pick-up arrangement. If you plan to eat, shop, visit Jewel, use a lounge, or wait for another passenger before leaving the airport, it is better to inform your driver or transport coordinator in advance. This helps us decide whether the driver should wait, return later, or meet you at a different terminal-side pick-up point.

This is especially useful for long-layover guests, families waiting for hotel check-in, corporate travellers meeting colleagues at the airport, and passengers who want to visit Jewel before heading into the city. In these cases, an hourly chauffeur booking may be more suitable than a simple one-way airport transfer, as the driver can remain on standby while your itinerary changes during the booked period.
